Some people are a little confused when it comes to the term Mold and Mildew Remediation and personally I don’t blame them. When I first heard the term I had no idea what it meant until I learned it’s a process used by professionals that allows them to remove mold and mildew from businesses and homes.
The tools used are much more extreme than what a homeowner might use when cleaning up mold. For example, a professional mold remediation company may use HEPA vacuums, wet vacuums, full body suits and in some cases a decontamination chamber to clean up molds.
Although mildew is a type of fungus, it’s often unnecessary to hire a professional to clean it up unless you’re extremely allergic to the stuff or the fungus is out of control.
If you do find it necessary to hire a professional mold remediation company, always ask for an estimate in writing beforehand. Otherwise you may end up paying more than necessary for the project. If the company refuses to do an estimate, find someone else to do the job.
