Squat Rack is For Squats Not Curls!
Posted by in Sports and Games on February 10th, 2010
If you are a regular visitor of gyms, you have probably seen a guy talking a short EZ bar with some tiny weight plates trying to curl inside of a squat rack. What is unusual about this site, you might wonder? Well, from an experienced lifter’s point of view, anything besides squatting in the squat rack is considered as an act of utter disrespect. I’m not kidding, I assure you.
That skinny guy that is trying to do his curls is in serious trouble.
So, if you are that scrawny guy, drop that barbell, run away and pray that no one saw what you did. Maybe a solution for you would be to buy a squat rack and curl as much as you want at the privacy of your own home. If perhaps you are on the other side of the coin, don’t be annoying by this guy too much and do your best to forgive him, because he might be the next you.
Mental Image in Powerlifting
Posted by whaleadmin in Sports and Games on December 30th, 2009
First of all, powerlifting is an individual sport and as such it offers much greater personal development than group sports. It is a sport where you compete against yourself, which is always the hardest component to beat. Therefore this desire to overcome what you previously were both as an athlete and person drives you to be very committed and work hard.
Powerlifting requires you to have a mental projection of yourself in the future all the time. The goal oriented philosophy makes you give your best to achieve what you set in the first place. Without planning your schedule around these goals you will never be able to achieve even a fraction of them. That is why the mental image in powerlifting must be rock solid. This also helps in an everyday life, where you can apply your work habits created through powerlifting.

Indoor Bike Trainers
Posted by whaleadmin in Sports and Games on November 23rd, 2009
Is your plan to stay indoors all winter long and get fat? Mine either but unless you want to join a gym then your options are kind of limited as the temperatures drop to freezing. An indoor bike trainer might be the ticket to getting some exercise and still being able to stay warm.
Indoor bike trainers come in all shapes and sizes and you can buy the kind that fold flat that you load your OWN bicycle into to ride or you can buy a traditional stationary style bike that you might ride at the gym. Each design has their own advantages.
A stationary style bike does not require that you own a bicycle, which is good but they also take up a lot more space and when the weather turns warm again, you can’t ride them down the sidewalk. I personally favor the folding style of bike trainer that you load your own bike into and ride. I prefer it for many reasons, a few of which are it is more realistic of a ride. You ride your own bike so your posture and seating and pedal configuration is the same as what you are used to riding.
I also think a folding bike trainer is more versatile. You can use it year round and if you choose to ride outside then just detach your bicycle and ride off down the road. No matter which style of bike trainer you choose, the mere fact that you use either one puts you ahead of most people. Many cyclists work hard all summer to get in shape but then spend the offseason eating buffalo wings and holiday desserts. They will pay the price for that come spring on the first group ride.
MBS Atom 95

If you are looking to get into a new sport it is often hard to commit to spending much money on equipment. The big advantage of getting an introductory lesson or some tuition is that you often get to try out equipment before hand, as well as getting some recommendations. In the case of mountainboarding, mountainboard centres offer lessons, and have hire fleets. These boards whilst not always the latest models allow you to test a number of board styles and sizes and give you a lot of help in deciding what you want. If you have decided you want to buy your first board then you need to decide how much you can afford to spend. You get what you pay for as with so many things in life. A great entry level mountainboard is the MBS Atom 95. It is fairly basic but also inexpensive, allowing you to get into the sport without breaking the bank.

Badminton Racket Prices
Posted by whaleadmin in Sports and Games on September 12th, 2009
Most of the badminton equipment manufacturers bring out new ranges every year. For players this means higher prices if you want the very latest products. After one season, these pricescome down as the retailers try to get rid of them for the new stock. The top badminton racket makers such as Yonex make sure that no retailer can sell their stuff below their recommended retail price.
This keeps the prices artificially high, and keeps the profits high as well. It also puts the retailers in a bad position for their business, because they cannot offer discounts and other deals that help them to sell things. The other badminton brands do not have these restrictions, and so they are a friend of the dealers, unlike Yonex who keep on putting prices up year on year.
The Halberd is the Original Swiss Army Knife
Posted by whaleadmin in Hobbies, Sports and Games on September 4th, 2009
Did you know that the halberd, that gigantic pole-arm axe wielded by Knights in shiny armor, is the original swiss army knife? It may not be as versatile (or as pocket-sized) as the current swiss army knife but the halberd in it’s prime was definitely used for multiple purposes. Before it became the weapon of choice for the Swiss Royal Guard it was used for chopping wood, prying open plate armor, smashing open plate armor, stabbing knights in the neck, and chopping people to pieces.
Lately the halberd has become more of a decorative weapon. The axe head has gotten smaller and is usually adorned with fancy golden etchings and stuff like that. In it’s prime it was a fantasticly powerful weapon. The length would keep the opponent at bay and the blade would deliver striking blows. Today it is one of those martial arts weapons that gets little publicity but is nobler for it.
Renting A Boat

The following article is going to discuss a few things that may concern you if you are ever thinking of renting a boat to go fishing in.
Many people are dishearted because of the fact that they think you need a boat in order to be able to catch a lot of fish. This can not be further from the truth. In order to catch a lot of fish you need to know about bair selection. You also need to know where exactly you can find these fish.
Alternatively you can also try renting a boat for a day or a weekend if you can afford to do so. Renting a boat will not cost you a lot of money at all. It may be a little bit more convenient to go out and buy one for yourself even.
Ether way you need to realize that you can catch just as much fish while shore fishing instead of boat fishing.
Carl Edwards A Missouri Born Nascar Driver
Posted by whaleadmin in Sports and Games on August 14th, 2009
One of the many things I like about Carl Edwards is that he takes off his sunglasses when one of the media stops him for an interview. I feel that he isn’t trying to hide something behind the glasses, that he wants to connect with the fans. Besides I think he has really nice eyes. He is such a mid-westerner, the type of guy you just want to take home to your mamma and know that he won’t embarrass you. He is definitely a “Yes Mam”, “No Sir” type of guy. Well educated, well mannered, most of the time well behaved.
Carl Edwards has been known to show a little bit of the redneck race car driver side of him. One time when the media was interviewing Matt Kenseth, another Nascar Sprint Cup Champion and a teammate of Carl’s, he was upset with Matt for something that happened on the track. As Carl was walking by Matt Kenseth, Carl stopped and grabbed Matt’s shirt and threw a fake punch at him. It was on YouTube and may still be. It was so uncharacteristic of Carl that it lead some people to ask if he was on some type of performance enhancing drugs that made him act crazy and in front of the media no less. Granted this was not one of his finer moments, but everyone gets irritated at some point and at least he didn’t hit him on camera or at the Speedway which would have resulted in a point loss for Carl Edwards, Nascar is very serious about a drivers actions on track and at any of the Speedways.
Using Trampoline Exercises to Find a Slimmer You
Posted by whaleadmin in Sports and Games on August 3rd, 2009
The ability to use a large variety of exercises in order to get the best results possible is widely known. However, most people simply get lazy when it comes to looking for new ways to incorporate exercise into their daily lives. Looking for some fun exercises can help to remove the hassle from exercising and allows you to continue to enjoy the experience, rather than dreading it.
Taking the time to incorporate trampoline exercises into your workout routine will allow you to get the greatest impact for your health care plan. By adding a few quick trampoline exercises to your normal workout routine, even if you only perform them once a week or so will allow you the added options to keep you from getting bored, plus give you the additional exercises that you need to shake up your routine.
A small time spent on a trampoline can allow you to get into shape much faster than you might have otherwise considered. However, it is very important that you are actually dedicated to doing the appropriate trampoline exercises in order to actually get the greatest impact possible. If you simply skip over the trampoline exercises in order to do something different you will find that they are not as useful.
It is likely to be quite surprising just how soon you will start to see some great benefits from doing trampoline exercises. The majority of people are able to see results in only a couple of short weeks, rather than several months that most exercise plans take. This allows you to get the results that you want sooner, with less stress and hassle, and begin to see the benefits that you want faster instead of landing yourself in a rut that you are struggling to break free of.
