Criminal and Credit Checks after Bankruptcy

The pendulum has swung and employers now get the chance to pick the crème of the crop when they want to hire an employee. In the mid 90’s through early 2000 employers were bending over backwards to get employees. This no longer is true and employers are being picky, one employee in Michigan who had a bachelor’s degree, solid work history and was honorably discharged from the military. The interviewee trying to be honest and having to file for Michigan bankruptcy due to unemployment and health care bills while still struggling to find a job after months of unemployment. One of the interview issues the employee faced was they would offer information about their bankruptcy after they had been  notified they would most likely hear from the employer after a criminal  and credit background check had been conducted. The interviewee should have never offered this kind of information unless they were asked. The appropriate response should have been I don’t see a problem with the back ground check.
