The Simpsons has become almost a compulsory program that every American family has to watch. I personally don’t watch it; I’ve seen a few episodes and although I understand the humour, I really can’t see the attraction. Nevertheless, when I go to work or visit relations, I invariably get asked what I though of last nights episode. It drives me crazy. People just assume that you watch it, and some of the looks I get when I tell them I don’t could poke holes in you.
As far as cartoon families go, The Simpsons will never be beaten for popularity. I just hope that people have enough common sense to realise that the characters in shows like this should not be used as role models. My fear is that it’s too late, and we have already bred a generation of Simpson clones.
