Sell My Timeshare

There are a lot of websites out there willing to take your money to help you sell your timeshare. The typical sequence of events is:

1. You say something like “Man, I really need to sell my timeshare.”

2. You look around on the internet and find some companies that help people resell timeshares.

3. You contact one and end up speaking to a sales rep who tells you how great their website is.

4. You reluctantly agree and end up paying $300 up front for an ad.

5. Many months later you still haven’t sold your timeshare.

Avoid this process by first trying some free ways to get your timeshare out on the market. Try contacting your resort and see if they have some kind of resellers bulletin board you can advertise on. Maybe they have a newsletter or something. Try throwing up ads on newsgroups and forums. Craigslist and Ebay can be two good sources. Craigslist is free, Ebay costs very little.

If none of this pans out and you want to try one of the reseller sites, at least pick one that only charges you a commission after they sell your timeshare. If you pay them up front they really don’t have much reason to try too hard. The ones that sell on a commission are just like a real estate agent – they only get paid when you do.

If you try and post advertising anywhere that you can and use every resource you can find, you may be lucky enough to soon be saying “All right, I was able to sell my timeshare!”
