Choosing Lasers as an Option to Remove Hair

If you are sick and tired of having to shave for pluck your unwanted hair every couple of days, then you may want to consider getting something more permanent such as laser hair removal. This can be a great way to reduce the amount of hair that grows out of the parts of your body that you would rather not have hair grow. Keep in mind that this is a pretty expensive procedure so you only want to do it if you have the money for it. Another thing you want to keep in mind is that this procedure will not remove every single piece of hair. You’ll still have some hair grow out but it will be fewer in numbers as well as being thinner and less visible.

Average Cost of Laser Hair Removal

There are many cost variables associated with the removal of unwanted hair by the laser removal process.  Of course, the greater the number of hairs to be treated or the larger the area that needs to be treated will have a big impact on the total cost.  Also, the amount of pigments, which determines the color of the hair, will also play a part.  The darker the hair, the easier it is to treat the follicle in order to stop hair growth.

With these factors in mind, you can see that it is hard to determine an average cost of laser hair removal.  But there are some rules of thumb that can be used to get to a price.  Basically, a standard price for hair removal is going to be around $300 to $400.  This cost will go up based on the variables mentioned above.  One other possibility is there may need to be more than one treatement if some of the hair is in the hibernation state.

How Painful is Laser Hair Treatment?

You can expect pain with every hair removal procedure which does anything with your hair follicles – whether that is wrenching them from your skin in great numbers as is the case with waxing or destroying them with controlled waves of light energy as you do with laser hair treatment.  The fact is that the nerve endings and the hair follicles are in very close proximity so you will feel the effects of removing hair.

With laser hair removal the degree of discomfort you will feel depends on your sensitivity to pain but it’s not usually as harsh as waxing if you have ever experienced that.  You might feel it as tingling but more likely mild stinging. The pain is usually lessened by the application of a soothing gel which cools the skin and takes away some of the sting.  However if you don’t feel anything then the treatment is not getting to the follicles and killing them so pain (in a way) is good unless you want to keep returning for expensive treatments!
