The Amazing Shiba Inu

The Shiba Inu is not your ordinary dog, sometimes they are just outright weird.  Shiba Inu doggies don’t bark much, they prefer a soft, gentle howl, although when frightened or just plain aren’t getting their way, they possess the dreaded “Shiba Shriek”.  If you own one you will constantly hear “Is he/she part  fox?  They are extremely clean dogs that groom themselves, much the same way as at cat.  Even the Shiba personality is very much like a cat.  Like cats, Shibas are very independent dogs that have a mind of their own.  Shiba Inu dogs require a lot of love and patience to train.  They need to be convinced as much as trained.  These dogs won’t blindly follow you like, let’s say a retriever.  They expect to be treated with respect, affection and to get some treats.  They are loyal and affectionate dogs, that will follow a loving owner anywhere and stand fearless by their side, but I tend to think they consider the relationship more of a equal partnership, than an typical owner-master arrangement.
