By now you have probably heard about pit bikes, it is fast becoming a craze that is sweeping not only the nation, but the entire world. But do you know where the pit bike orginated from? Well, some people say that the pit bike was initially invented by handyman fathers who wanted to ride their childrens bikes for a bit of fun. Originally, according to this theory, these bikes were too small to be ridden by a fully grown adult, so thet Dads had to modify the engine and suspension in order to take on the extra weight.

The other, more plausible scenario is that the pit bike orginated at the motor racing track. This theory goes that they were created by pit crews, you know the people who sit by the sidelines at a race and wait for a tyre to blow, or an engine to overheat. For these crews, time is of the essence, and it is imperative that they can get around the pits as quickly as possible. The problem is, with a lot of these pits, there isn’t a lot of room to manouvere, so the pit crews, being mechanically minded as they are, decided to take the smallest vehicle they could find and make it as quick as possible.

Whichever one of these scenarios is true, the fact remains that these bikes are now a very popular hobby for young and old, and a great way for father and son to spend quality time together.
